Bathroom decorative colors

Here’s our newly done bathroom, we painted a tan color and did the floors in a gray. Now I’m wondering what splash of color to add. I was thinking blue and found this shower curtain (see package photo not the current light blue one), I also found a gray/white one but think it might be to bland. How would you decorate this space? What colors would you add to brighten it up? (I’d like to avoid white towels). Also what size and layout of bathroom rugs or are bathrown rugs even needed?

Great renovation! Once you decide on a shower curtain, make those color(s) your accent colors. Add a piece or shelf with canisters above the toilet and a basket or rolling cart under your sink. Bring color in through the accessories. Happy decorating!

With the browns and grays and your modern look, I like a bright green as an accent color. Plus, you can get a variety of bath accessories in a color like that, which would be fun.

Note that I wouldn't necessarily use *all* the green at once -- if you go with the mostly green curtain, then get a green and white rug (and you can only have a rug if the door swing will clear it), etc. But I realize I didn't get a nice picture for over your toilet!

Of course, I have no idea what you like, just playing a bit...

    what a nice space

I'd go with a second curtain between the two -and everybody here knows I'm a big lover of color-but I love your organic vibe, your vanity..and I'd take it even further with a curtain.

or. I'd go other direction and bring something really bold and multi colored. Like florals. I'd keep them fabric. They look richer on fabric.

rugs? no rules. In one bath I have a wool rug..like a real deal. Because I dislike the tile there:) And it takes almost the whole (smaller) bath

in another(a master) I do love the tile which I picked myself and am unwilling to cover it. so I just throw a hand towel when I need to step out of the shower..easy to wash, easy to dry, easy to take away

I also for some strange reason am not a fan of white towels(my DH is. But I win. lol. )

then obviously art can be any color. You can bring a plant..you can put your stuff like brushes and toothpaste in a nice mug you love rather then in something bought in store ..

Bottom line of my rambling: I wouldn't choose one accent color. I'd choose a feel, an allover concept. And I'd go from there.

Tell me if you want specifc suggestions..I love shower curtains and all that jazz, I'm afraid to start and not to stop..:)

Yeah, another direction would be to keep it subdued, like with a light gray leaf print on white and other neutrals. OP asked for accent *colors*, though, so I thought the green might be clean and modern enough to go with the zen tones. I often combine them in bathrooms myself! :)

Thanks all! I went to Menards and actually found a bright teal shower curtain that I love, so I bought the towels and floor rug to match. Unfortunately the floor rug won’t allow for the door to close so I need to return it. And maybe find something smoother. Meanwhile I’m on the hunt for something above the toilet, I’d love to place our hand towels there so a towel rack/shelf (to give more counter space). I’ll post a few photos of what I had in mind. I’d like to stay under/around $50. Any help/suggestions would be welcome (do I do wood shelf (though I’m worried about the wood shelf matching the vanity) white, nickel finish? Wire shelf, solid shelf? One shelf, two shelves? One shelf and then a picture or one shelf and a large picture leaning on it?) I should also add this is our guest bathroom.

Found this towel shelf and bar at KMart the price was right for this guest bathroom so up it went. Any suggestions on styling the shelves? Currently Kleenex box (needs to move down and maybe small box), small jar of qtips and small jar of cotton balls.

Thank you! A tray is a great idea to help with the wire shelving. Thank you so much for all those suggestions-great ideas!
