All trees are in now. This was a two men job. No way to carry them out when weather is nice. Maybe just once or twice for cleaning.

Looks good Vladimir. Do I see fruits? :) I have to be carefull as to how big I will let them go following year. Some were difficult to fit through the door. Seeing them everyday and did not realize how much they grew.

In the sunroom, the deciduous hardy ones are still outside :( It is going to be 40 degrees overnight, will see how they do.

Yes, you do see fruits on owari satsuma. Also have some starting to ripen on oro blanco. The big Meyer lemon in far lefty corner has a bunch of green fruit. Right in front of it is my calamondin with a few ripe fruit (you can see one) and it is loaded with blossoms.

They are predicting 35F for Tuesday morning but I would not be surprised if it drops below 32F.

36F tonight here. And so many new tender growth. Plus it is October already.

Steve do you give your trees extra light for the winter?

I give my trees a lot of extra light. I have to go on a business trip I have brought the trees in a month early. I will set up there lighting setups when I get back.

Your trees will need about 4 times the light shown in your top picture. If you let the room cool down to under 60F that might be enough light to winter them over. I am not sure. I have never just wintered my trees over. I light for aggressive growth all winter.

I'm always amazed by your trees when you post photos of them Susanne. What is your secret to shaping them so gorgeously? I've looked at many sites and guidelines for pruning and most of them give advice for pruning inward branches and suckers but that's about it. I can tell they look wonderful because they're also very healthy and not just because of your trimming skills!

Anyhow sorry for getting off topic! I setup a cheap 4 tier rack to stack both short and tall plants into one space.

My shorties will go on the bottom and the Meyer on top. Or vice versa depending how it works out. I'll probably tie the rack against something to make sure it doesn't fall forward with the plants on it

Very nice Setup Susanne love it and it looks like you have at least room for 50 or so more tree's you have a ton of room in there . Very nice .

Susanne, beautiful setup. Your trees look so healthy and happy. I noticed you've got them sitting on some sort of mesh insert. Did they come with the saucers or did you buy them separately?

I've been trying to figure out how to water thoroughly without the trees sitting in excess water and those inserts look perfect. Where did you get them from?

It's suppose to get down to about 38F here in Toronto tonight... I'm most likely going to bring in the Ponderosa because it is less hardy and has a huge fruit.... Plus, it was hit hard with yesterdays winds.... Lost a small new branch with 3 medium leafs... The Meyer/Limequat, I'll leave them outside... I usually bring them in if it gets very cold or cloudy for the whole day and than I bring them back out... But I only have 2 pots compared to you guys with 10+ lol

Dave, my Ponderosa Lemon does just fine in temps that low, but only for a night or two. I will just wrap a blanket around the pot as long as I don't get a hard freeze//Wish me luck) Yup, over 30 pots or more.lol

Susanne, you set up looks great! like others said more lamps will be needed. I am planing on 2 trees per lamp for the Ikea ones but you may be able to get away with more depending on how you fit them together. I am also looking in to getting these https://www.target.com/p/5-head-floor-lamp-pink-room-essentials-153/-/A-52034460 It will greatly depend on if the height is adjustable but I only have so many outlets/power strips and need more like per plug in.

Its been getting down to 36 at night and 68 during the day, none of my trees have come in and many have new growth that looks just fine. Ill be moving them - in about 2 weeks from now and don't foresee any issue with it. Last year they were out until temps were 34ish for a few days and didn't have any problems.

Each of these trees had a 23 watt daylight CFL on them

Steve my trees are way too big to fit under a bucket. My lamps are daylight too. 82CRI, 5000K or 2200 Lumen. It is supposed to be close to natural day light. I have 8 of those and leaving them on 12 to 14 hours. Today is the second day and even tho just LED, gets warm in there. If I put more light in, thinking it might get too hot??? Maybe just try to see how the plants react to the current light? Not really sure what to do right now.

Susanne, do you have any way to ventilate the room by opening windows? I have probably over 40 bulbs in my room (when set up) and sometimes it does heat up. Since the room has windows, I just open some up to cool it off. On the bright side, I think I was forced to turn the heat on once or twice last winter.

Laura wow, 40 bulbs??? I have two windows and two doors in that room. One door opens to the living room and one to the backyard. I guess it would be easy to just open at least three sides up to get it cool down rather quickly.

Hubby and I are working every spare moment we have down in the converted root cellar /gh.. I have a few hanging lights installed with more to go. Still caulking all the cracks and gaps and need to finish putting up trident on one more wall. Then the solar pool cover goes on. We installed a rain gutter and barrel to catch the water but now have to take it down because the pool cover will not fit over it properly. Will reinstall in the spring..Most of the trees are now down in the gh except for the young liners..We had the wood furnace cranking out the heat this week when the temperature dropped down into the thirties. Hard frost 3X this past week. . It was nice and toasty down there..Thank goodness the outdoor temperature is rising and climbing back up through at least Saturday. .

The 15 day forecast looks good for me so far...the coldest night will be tonight @ 46...they should be fine. I’m in no rush to drag them in...;-). Jinny, show us pics of your setup once it’s ready.

Here is the set up, Susanne! I hate long cold winter months.The poor trees are going to be confined to the indoor environment for 5 months at least.

Thanks for showing us your setup sunshine! After seeing your happy trees in the sun, I've finally decided my room needs to be reorganized if I want to utilize the winter sun too. One of my windows has an old radiator underneath which will be too dry for the Meyer and my only other window is blocked by my bed placed under it. My room setup wasn't feeling that great anyway so moving the bed and giving my tree the window will be a win-win!

I am in larkspur, Co 1150 miles from my citrus trees. The weather forecast is clear of frosts for 15 days.

Kvetch, you are such a good citrus parent, doing what is best for your lemon tree:)), winters are not easy on indoor potted tropical trees.

Sunshine the tree's with a view beautiful . Very nice sunny bright corner they will love it there . Very nice collection of plants .

Kvetchlambkin great idea with the light setup . Rearranging your room so your tree will have a sunny window is a good idea your tree will love it . Oh the things we will do for our plants lol.

Thanks Brian and sunshine :) I noticed today that my southern facing room gets constant light all day. It's no wonder my cutting on the windowsill is going crazy with new growth! I definitely don't want my tree to be left bare by the end of winter.

A week has past since all trees came in. I added a bit more light and bought a fan that I need to put up. Since a week has past, so much growing going on.

I need to go on a diet so I can squeeze through the path way for watering and inspection.

My goodness Susanne, it's always a real treat when you update us with photos. Your trees are such beauties! It makes me try harder caring for my tree. If my Meyer saw your trees, it would probably drop all its leaves to spite me lol. Which direction is that window facing? Do you have a lot of natural light shining on your tree during the day?

Thank you kvetchlambkin :). One window is to the east and one to the south. I wish they would be bigger. Lights are on about 12 to 14 ours despite the windows. This is the first time the room is packed with trees (thanks to this group). My oldest trees spent winters in this room with only one shop light and much cooler temps. This is the first year I see so much growth and flowers at the beginning of winter. The Meyer is one of my oldest trees and I can see how happy it is in this environment.

They look great Susanne! I am glad that they are liking it in indoors. Mine are still out....we will have a few days of cold in about a week, but the lowest will be 44-45....so I will leave them out since daytime temps are in the 60s and low 70s.

Hindsight I could have left them a week or so longer outside. Next week will be around 32F.

One month later. Still everything green so far. Humidity came down just a little bit (70% in the morning around 60% late evening before lights go out) but when temps outside allows, open windows helps. Watching for any sign of mold. Lots of more growth and flower buds. Adding more lights later today. But have to watch even more the temperature. Already 24C during the day but cools down to 16C over night.

Susanne, you and Laura and a few others are collecting more than tree's growing in Florida. You guys doing such a great job. I hope you guys use your finger nails more to pinch-off flowerbuds so that your tree's can grow larger faster. No pun intended. Too many flowers on a small tree will stunt the little sucker.

Wait until fruitlets develop. Then remove fruitlets. Otherwise trees will continue to blossom.
