I'm not sure what you mean by "pivot slide doors," but I'm building a set of his and hers closets in a similarly narrow hallway, and my contractor used French doors (to match other doors in the room) with a hinge that would allow the doors to open back flat against the wall, so that His closet could be open without blocking the hallway. Something similar might be possible in your case.

(This assumes that some other solution, like double pocket doors, isn't better.)

Sadly the hallway is not large enough for pocket or barn doors. The opening of the laundry closet is basically the length of the entire hallway.

I am in the same situation with my laundry close that you are, and I'm looking for a solution that can handle oversized interior french doors: 96" high and 37 inches wide. A company called HAWA produces very expensive Concepta hardware that can handle doors almost that big. The Concepta hardware comes in various sizes depending upon the size and weight of your doors. They have a similar system that works to slide bi-fold doors back into a closet. If you find anything that can handle extra wide doors, please let me know.

If it's a double door closet they make barn door hardware where one door slides in front of the other. It's called bypass. We just did this with a wall of eight barn doors in a new home gym and it works great.

No, we ended up going with bi fold doors.

I’m planning to go with the richelieu solution if I can afford it. I also don’t like the look of most bifold and and don’t have room on either side for a pocket or barn door. A pivot pocket would be ideal.

Has anyone tried the pivot pocket door?

Just wonder if anyone end up using HAWA-Concepta hardware or something similar?
