Toro Snowthrower - new models

A few years back I was looking for a two stage snow thrower
at the local Toro dealer I have dealt with for years. I wanted one to pair with my single stage Toro
model. At the time all they had were
these monster sized throwers and some single stage units that looked like two
stagers. I bought a user 24” Ariens which has run fine but is older. I was in getting a new blower and noticed
some mid-sized two stage Toros in the line up.
24” 8hp etc. for $750 -$950. They
look less bulky than my old Ariens. They do not look as well made though and
the chute is plastic and I assume it’s a chines engine...but looks can be
deceiving. Does anyone have any word on these Toro’s? Good, Bad, Buy, Stay
away...just get a new Ariens etc?

Currently have a Oxe 826 , 4 yrs old , is the Best unit for the price on the market . North American Briggs engine . The chute and impeller case are polyyurthane and warranted against breakage for life . They are again on sale for $825.00 this mth in the Great White North . Actually about to buy one of their Power Clear small blowers for my 40 ft deck . A return customer !

    1. Tom , tried and proven technology , stronger one piece box chassis vs conventional two piece design , resists flexing and breakage also shear pin-less auger system due to oversized and case hardened gears. As said previously , my 4 yr old Power Max has proven itself Bullet Proof . My second use , I sucked in a small chunk of hard rock maple , which immediately stalled the engine . I removed the wood , noticed a small deformation of the auger tine which I tweaked back into form and kept on blowing . Strong gear box or what lol. Yeah back in the Day I ran only John deere , but today only Toro for me c/w 3 yr warranty .

The design is patent pending only to Toro the 8 HP is more than capable of blowing snow over 40 ft . I have cleared 2 - 3 ft easily . I have a plow truck for drives but have numerous out buildings on many 10 acres that the 826 handles with ease clearing the walkways over 75 linear ft as req,d . The 8 HP will handle 28 inch chute easily , yes they come with high intensity halogen lights . I usually blow during the daylight hrs ,but have on emerged basis used the unit during darkness with awesome lighting it provides . P.S These toro,s are better built than the old Ariens or John Deere's take it from a man who has serviced numerous brands over the yrs . The 7 HP 24 " chute would even be capable for your small needs .
