Mystery Pineapple Guava monster ?!

Calling all garden Sherlocks!

Something is eating my pineapple guava plants and I can't find a trace of what it is. Thought it could be earwigs but didn't catch any in traps.

Gardener friends tell me nothing eats them, but mine are getting clearcut. Anyone had similar problem?

Photos below.

What I know:

Started after they were in the ground and started putting up new growth.

Happening pre mulch and post mulch

Area is dry around them

No snail or slug evidence

No pest evidence at all, day or night

The chomping starts from the top of the plant

Ussd Vaseline trick, diatamacious earth, and neem so far

Thanks for help/suggestions.
