Over the past year and a half, I have had an architect, GC, excavator, plumbers, electricians, roofers, tilers, and pavers at my house to finish a small bath addition. It would have been finished earlier but In between visiting nurses had to be here too to take care of my DH last summer as he battled a cancer diagnosis so some finishing touches were put on hold. We are finished with the last trades man here just yesterday!

Coming to the completion of a major kitchen remodeling job which was partially DIY. DH did demolition, electrical, plumbing, and installed support beam. The kitchen cabinet people sent carpenters to install cabinets and countertops. The drywall installers gave us walls and ceiling. The floor people installed brand new white oak in the kitchen and refinished the living room and dining room floors. The painters and tilers for the backsplash are scheduled to come soon. The HVAC company recently installed a new furnace and air conditioning unit. Our lawn maintenance firm took down 5 trees in the backyard. Looking ahead to remodeling the guest bath and the laundry room. I cannot say that the end is in sight.

I've lost count...know the irrigation system people have been here, plumbers multiple times, handyman, yard man, HVAC people...the list goes on and on and on..

We had animal control out to remove squirrel and pigeon nests from under our solar panels. That led to finding hail damage on our roof, which lead to roofers and solar panel guys removing and reinstalling panels-- and adding critter guard to prevent more nesting. Other than that craziness, we had the city arborist out to look at some tree issues. That's it for this year.

Our plumber to replace the laundry room faucet and all connections underneath, and fix our spa tub's jets.

Dream Style Remodeling to work on a smallish problem that arose after all new windows and door walls were put in the year before.

Appliance repair for our Kitchenaid built-in French door fridge. That one saved us almost $10,000!

Exterminator treats outside monthly for centipedes, mice and packrats that are always trying to get inside here.

Landscape architect giving me ideas for new landscaping.

New gutters and a guy to clean out the drains. Nobody else, although of course we have some plans on a back burner...

Can I just say...too many?

New windows installed (and one of the guys stole something from the house), HVAC repair and tune up, handyman to rescreen the porch, upholsterer, lawn service, leaf cleanup. I think that's all this year

Lawn maintenance 3-4 men biweekly, new roof installed, carpet installed by 2men, shades & curtains hung, 2 very talented men remodeled bath..... the lead guy can do ANYTHING!! .... he also installed new gutters & did maintenance on front porch columns, 2 men cleared out well filter, painters in kitchen & den & foyer , “lead guy “installed 2 upstairs bathroom vents...... wow! It’s been a busy year!! Thank you to all for your fine work!!

We bought a foreclosure that was part way through a flip and are finishing it. We built our last house. It was beautiful and easier than this, but not as well constructed. They don’t build then like they used to!

We live in a condo and since we own a portion of the entire building, we've had many contractors here for various reasons. I've made a list of the ones I'm aware of - it'll give you an idea of where one's condo fee gets spent: locksmith, a company to make our outside doors more secure (break-ins),elevator maintenance, telephone repair to update phones in elevators, pest control (but in the 6 mos. the traps have been set no creatures have been captured - a precaution as we live by the river), window washers, snow removers, underground garage cleaners, pool maintenance and several others. In our personal home, not so much has happened. We have had an electrician, carpet installers and next month, new blinds will be installed. (And, no, the condo fee doesn't cover those! Darn. )

ZERO. DIY.

Dare I even list them? Regulars are mowing guy, gardener, bin cleaner guy, cleaners. Then- landscape designer for revamp of one area. Tree guys to replace a lost tree. Stone guy to repair fence. Auto gates guy to replace gate motors and intercom. Handyman to repair and refinish veranda posts, rails and floors. Air con contractor to replace ducted air system. Plumber to replace kitchen and laundry taps and add anti water hammer thingies. Gas plumber to install new cooker. Washing machine guy to install new washing machine. Big jobs and small. This is what you get when your house is over 100 years old and even the ‘new’ part is over 20 years old. And when all the appliances installed at the same time go pfffft at the same time. My brain hurts.

Oops I forgot the pool pump and chlorinator also went pfffft so I had to replace them. The new ones were more eco and bigger than the old equipment so carpenter to build a new enclosure

This was a good exercise at looking back at the year. All jobs completed by pros. Excellent work by all! It really shows that the Trades are important work. I hope more young people consider a trade for their career.

zero. Bathroom finished by installing a recessed cabinet--DH did it. Several trees cut down on the property--DH did it. Shelves put in laundry room--DH did it. New guest room painted, new bed installed...I did it. There is ALWAYS something needing done/being done but we just do it.

Retaining wall had to be replaced by a team of fence guys, general contractor remodeled one bath due to leaking tub into the garage and then we sprang for the Masterbath to be done-still in progress but looking great. Bathrooms were original from the 80's it was time for the update. Will send photo's once done. Oh yes, whole house fan was installed and weekly gardener

Painters, wall ovens installers, deck repairer, plumber, waterproofers, driveway restorers, electrician, fence installers. More to come. Never, ever ending!

I completed a major remodel earlier this year with a count of 14 trades working on the project. Of course that's not a typical year, but since the remodel's basically finished, aside from a couple of City required add-ons, I've found myself still in need of a carpenter and electrician, mostly due to low quality carpentry by the general contractor who did the remodel.

Oh yeah, HVAC service, exterminator, weekly lawn mowing, organic lawn feeding and weeding, arborist!

Lawn care person, drywall person, plumber, air conditioning person, pool person, pool leak specialist, another pool specialist, we did a large land restoration project and had a team of people working with grading and rip rap installation.

I've had five - one kitchen cabinet designer, one plumber, three electricians, and one general contractor who does pretty much everything else - master carpentry, dry walling, painting, wallpapering, room design, ceiling dry walling and design, drilling for the range hood and sump pump, floor screening and refinishing, rebuilding the garage with new siding, doors and footings (for which he had to raise the whole garage, straighten it, and lower it down to sit level.) He's one amazing builder.

My house was built in 1875, and a lot of work has been done on it over the 33 years I've lived in it, but the biggest chunk of renovations has been done since December of 2016. My contractor built me an actual library in a spare room upstairs. My house is solid brick, more than a foot thick, and it's shifted somewhat in the last 142 years of its existence. The room that is now my library differed by over an inch in the width of the room.

Our home was built in 1950. We gave her a full-rehab this year. We hired the following experts to do the restoration job for us: Mason (porch and brick pathway), plumber (code), electrician (code), contractor (kitchen, siding, and flooring), professional painter and Marygrove custom-fabric awning installer.

Even the 67-year-old garage got some love.

If it's a service, they've been to my house... roofer, plumber, electrician, architect, designers, general contractors, cabinet makers, granite installers, sheet rockers, texture person, window installers, painters, more painters, arborist, landscape architect, glass installer, appliance repair people (fridge, and washing machine), concrete repair people, carpet installers, tile layers (like 10 of them!!) fence installers... sigh. Worst year of my life! Biggest remodel we've ever done... shudder. Now I need a pharmacist, wine salesman and therapist to help me recover... ;)

Painters, flooring, carpet, window repair, granite with the requisite template guy and installers, tile backsplash, dishwasher installation guy, roofers who will be back today to fix the part of the roof that has been flapping only noticed because of major wind we’ve had the past few days, the blinds guy to measure and then came back to install, a plumber twice and a general handyman who has been here more times than I can count. The last one is a super nice guy that if I had a sister I would totally set them up to go on a date. I only have a brother though. ;p

TOO MANY........!!!!!

My contractor and his sons did all the work on two of the bathrooms here, gutted back to the studs. He prefers doing it to scheduling and stopping work for a day or two for subs. They check everything w/ me first since I want it all a certain way. They do perfect work; I feel fortunate to have found them. They do all my work now.

Kitchen cabinet upgrade earlier this summer. Carpenter, electrician, cabinet maker, painters...before and after pics. We love it!

A typical new home will have 25-30 different trade specialties, depending on the complexity of the project, 125-200 18 wheelers worth of materials delivered & 100-200 yards of scrap removed (lumber, paper, metal, drywall, etc). There's a sequence that makes a project work so you cannot have everyone at one time, but some days there are 2 workers, some days 10-20 and a few up to 30+ as long as there is enough space to work, manage materials, load gear in & power up everybody.
