I hear you! During the Fall, it can be hard to negotiate the turns on the road that ends in dormancy so, in December, I find myself testing the soil with my fingers (to see if it is dry) more frequently if the shrubs appear wilted. It could be that they are going dormant or that they need water... Sometimes I wish the hydrangeas and I could talk, tweet or email! Hee, hee, hee! Wish them a good winter from me.

LOL. Sounds like we have the same convo. with our Hydra's recently. Did it want a cup of water or just a light jacket for these milder days.

I gave the ones in the back a good drink. No change in wiltness today.

Cold temps can zap the leaves too; make them look wilted. . You know though, sometimes when that happens to me, the wilted/zapped leaves turn dark green almost black and other times they just start browning out... just a fyi
