Adding a Wall and a transom or window?

Hello! We just moved into this beautiful home. The second level has a loft bedroom with open wall to the 1st floor living area and no door. This is my sons bedroom. We'd like to close the wall up and add a door, however I didn't want the room to be dark. There is currently a small window and a skylight. I was thinking of adding a window (transom) of some kind higher up in the wall to still let light in/and/ or a transom above his new door. Can anyone provide some ideas of a window and or door idea? Thoughts please!! thank you!

You could close it up with a translucent glass panel (that might be quite expensive) or use a translucent glass single panel French door (likely the cheapest option). However, I think there is plenty of light with the current window and skylight.

You should check if closing in this room would meet code. You might need to add an egress window on the outside if the current window isn't big enough for a person to crawl through in the event of a fire.
