for an inexpensive fix, i would suggest-paint cabinets white, tile paint the back splash as it doesnt get to much action so it should no scratch or chip to easy. if replacing countertops is not an option, embrass the fun op of color, just [aint or replce the edges. long hardware handles, large kitchen rug
(multi color to tie in countertop) stainless appliances, if not possible add a color pop of towels hung on oven door to soften the white and tie counter top, rugs together for a fresh new look.
    hope that helps

I would install solid surface countertops over the existing countertops. After you have addresses the floor and if your budget will allow it I would change the backsplash.

I would look at replacing at least your stove/oven to match the black appliances, so you don't have both black and white. I like the suggestion of using a porcelain tile faux wood on the floor. There are many great lines out now (see below). I would definitely replace the back splash if you can. I would not skimp on the countertops since it is a big investment, and you don't want to do something that you're going to want to replace again in a few years. If it's not in the budget right now, live with what you've got until you can save up enough to do what you really want. Your cabinets look like they're in good shape, so maybe just get some new hardware.

Are you planning to switch to all white or all black appliances this time around or change them one at a time?

For $8-10K, you can get new quartz countertops and tile backsplash, new flooring, new paint and change the knobs. If the cabinet finish needs a touch up, you can usually do that. Some finishes are difficult to touch up.

Kitchen drawers sometimes need a tune up with oil on ball bearing glides or candle wax on wood runners. Hinges may need a drop of oil, too. Pull out shelves are very nice additions.

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

    The kitchen is 15x9

We would like to upgrade the flooring first do you have links to good flooring material? Looking for something that's easy to clean.
The cabinets are in good shape we will repaint / change the knobs. Countertop and back splash is where we will spend fair amount for upgrade. We like something modern in terms of style/color. Want to do a white on white or white with black counter.

Here is a visual for you. I always think white cabinets are beautiful, and a black quartz countertop would look awesome.
