Innerspring vs. Memory foam mattress???

We are shopping for a new bed. Have not had a new one in a very long time. The 15 second test at the store tells me nothing, as any of them are better that what we currently have. I know it will boil down to personal preference, but when spending this kind of money, I'd like more info than the salesman can provide. Anyone switch from one to the other. Comments about improved sleep, or less than expected sleep.

We currently have a regular old spring mattress, which is only slightly better than sleeping on a board. Sadly, due to space issues, we are switching from a King size, to a Queen size. Being 90lbs lighter due to the stress of renovation than I was back then should make this a smoother transition.

Being that this is where all the experts are I thought this would be as good as anyplace to ask.

We made the switch last year from coils to foam. We were tired of spending a lot of money for a mattress that would be sagging in 3 years. Coincidentally, the mattress we ended up with was the one recommended in the article (Zinus 12 inch Green Tea Memory Foam) because there was a great deal. We figured, that even if it only lasted 3 years, it was worth the cheap price. The first couple nights were an adjustment. I had to get used to not having the springs as I flipped from one side to the other. But by the 3rd night, I was used to it. The mattress has held up great the first year. No dips anywhere. I sleep just as well as I did on a coil. It is not too firm and not too plush. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

Any one know of good mattresses at Costco? I'm bit tired visiting the stores since last few days. But need to make a decision soon.

Foam mattresses sometimes do not provide the support of an inner spring mattress.

@curlyq75 Did you any challenges to move the box when it arrived? I was thinking of getting some help just in case if I'm not home and my wife has to move it.

Switched from spring to foam and I love it. I actually bought a semi-hard one from Ikea (super affordable) and 6 months later I don't regret it at all. I used to have some back pain on the spring mattress and now I don't.

I am not sure how heavy it was. My husband had it unpacked already. But the box was pretty compact compared to the size of the mattress once it expanded.

That seems quite easy. Thanks. I was bit concerned that moving from spring to foam would be strange but I will be biting the bullet soon. @smallspacedesigner did your mattress have a foam top layer?

Everyone is different as to whether they want or need extra support or very soft.

I switched from a $2400 mattress to a $400 one. Memory foam and other foam types with cooling gel top. It was a major upgrade.

With mattresses, you don’t get what you pay for.

My memory foam was the $400 one. $2400 was interspring pillow top. Love the memory foam.
