The interesting thing about the Hirts offering is they also have the regular Butterfly amaryllis...which makes me wonder if maybe it is a wrong picture...or something else is going on?

I just emailed them asking if it was a mistake and if not what the differences were, will let you know what I hear....if anything.

Yes, I noticed that too. I remember one year many years ago, that there was an offering called "papilio improved" and I can't remember what it ended up being, was it just Lima, Tango or Jungle Star, (??) I believe it was something other than papilio. Someone else must remember this too.

Almost makes me want to order one just to see if I might get something special!!

Ok, so I just went through their list of hippies and I told myself if I see just one of those horrible wax dipped bulbs, I'm striking them off my list.

I get your hatred of it, and I am not a fan of it either, but I can't blame the seller. I blame the buyers. Most people don't keep them year to year, and thus they encourage this type of behavior, someone that is in it for the money is naturally going to sell items that sell.

I did read that this company changed names a few years ago and the previous name had many negative reviews. I do like their "compare" feature. When I compared the two, it did seem Mellott Moon seemed a bit more red. That could be easily achieved in photoshop ...or it could be just me wanting to see a difference.

John Scheepers is offering papilio improved this year. The picture is of a papilio, but the description describes narrow recurred petals. I always saw papilio described as being broad. I actually was thinking of trying it to see if It might be Jungle Star before Jungle Star became available again on RC.
