Acerola, aka Barbados Cherry?

Seems like it to me as well. I have one. The flowers are distinctive, IMO...

Looks similar, the flowers seemed a little more dusky than bright tho but maybe the soil or conditions change the flowers slightly.

On my tree, the flowers fade w/ age. The pic I posted was a grab from Google Image & could've been enhanced, but it is very close to my personal experience.

Pea, if you don't think they're acerola, how about a photo?

FWIW, my pic was from the web, too. I don't care for acerola enough to give them space when I have so little.

I'll have to see if i can grab a photo of one...most of the cherries have been nabbed by squirrels now. He has 3 small trees planted by a landlord, one of the trees was badly damaged during irma. I told him it was likely a good thing as the landlord planted right under the power line leading to the house.

I love the cherries from my little tree. They're really best raw; when I tried cooking some they were kind of blah.

They look like Barbados Cherries. They are one of the "cherry" varieties that grow in tropical climates, but they aren't true cherries like those in the Prunus genus. Be that as it may, Barbados cherries are tangy sweet when ripe and two of them can provide your day's worth of Vitamin C.
