you might wrap some aluminum foil around the inside of the glass to give you better bang for your light bounce… good arr flow is important too in confined spaces

Thanks, I have a fan at the top of the aquarium on one side. I also thought about using mylar or panda plastic around the sides but I think that I will end up putting the aquarium in my grow tent.

This is a little unrelated but here is a photo of my aquarium as it was planted this past year with mostly episcia (gesneriads). I didn't have any fan on it but I did have the glass canopy covering about 2/3rds of the tank and open along the back. I should have put a background on it but I will next time I plant it. I had it going for most of the year before I tore it down for our move. Click on the photo if you want to see it larger.

I think I will unload a bunch of my adenium seedlings into it for the winter with the heating pad underneath and lights on top. You got me thinking how that chilly basement could be improved for them with some warmth and humidity. I may even be able to keep them in active growth and not loose leaves. Hmmm.

Wow! That looks amazing. Idk what lights you're using but with my t5ho lights I don't even need the heating pad, as it gives off enough heat.

Yes, I have HO T5's over my streptocarpus shelving racks. You are right they give off plenty of heat but I just have some cheap regular T8's on the aquarium that I picked up at Walmart for $10 that have twin tubes per 4 foot fixture and put two side by side. The very low heat heating padding provides bottom heat that is great for roots.

Hey Hyn, I bought some LED retrofit tubes to go in my fluorescent grow lights and I'm loving them. They're rated at 2350 lumens per bulb at 18w. You should definitely check them out.

Thank you, Isde, I do plan to get LED's and use them but not this winter. I'm stuck house sitting and have had to cut my plant collection WAY back. I still have most of my adeniums but I got rid of a huge portion of my gesneriads and other things. We hope to sell our home and buy another, and get moved, by next spring or early summer. So adaptations to my indoor winter setup will have to wait until next winter once I know what space I have to work with. For now I'm getting by in a very small space in a basement and using lights I already have - and the warmer they are the better because it gets chilly down there. My HO T5's are producing 5,000 lumens each tube.

Most of my seedlings have since been moved into my grow tent under a 300w led. They've only been under the led for a week and I'm already seeing huge results in growth and leaf coloring. Most of the seedlings leaves are getting a reddish tint to the underside but I have a few that are turning cherry red at the top as well. One of them is also starting to grow variegated leaves. This is my first time growing adeniums from seed so I'm excited. Here's some pics of a few of my favorites.

I love how my adenium are responding under the led lights, my pachypodium seem to like it as well. I'm starting to get natural branching in both.
