This cultivar is 'Lime Sizzler', purchased from a local nursery. I bought it after searching for a long time for the green-leafed species (finally found the green about 18 months ago). I believe it stays a little shorter than the species, and seems to be quite a bit slower growing. I planted them in a very challenging garden location. However, the green-leafed ones were planted much later and in not a very much more favorable location, and they are much larger and more vigorous than the 'Lime Sizzler's.

I cannot "quote" what I once read about one of these shrubs weeks ago now but I think I was concerned about height (so I was wondering if there are dwarf versions of the basic shrub) or other leaf color versions (so good to know there is a yellow one; any others? different shades of green? or ???).

How much sun are your Lime Sizzlers getting? I have some yellow leafed shrubs that sometimes tend to turn green faster if they get more sun. In how much sun are your LSs? From what time of the year to what time do your LSs stay yellow?

They get at least a half-to-2/3rds day of full sun; very bright shade for the rest. The leaves on these don't turn green for me. The reddish new leaves change as they mature. But the rest of the leaves don't change much; maybe a bit less yellow/green contrast, and sometimes they take on a much more orange coloration. On the other hand, the soil here is sandy and lacks nutrients. These particular plants are struggling a bit, so that could be a factor in their leaf coloration. But none of these plants have reverted, or produced, green leaves.
