I agree with a pocket door also for the bathroom. But whatever you do, always try to avoid putting the door just in front of the toilet.

Do people like having just a pocket door for the bathroom? Is it inconvenient ever - if my husband is trying to sleep while I'm getting ready, is it as sound-proof or is the sliding annoying to have to open and close all the time? If we can't figure out how to change it, we may have to go with this option...

Get rid of the tub then...
1.Make the bathroom door narrower...say 2-8.
2.Move the linen cabinet opposite the door.
3.Make the shower wider so you can have room for two plus a bench seat.
4.Center the closet door and you’ll have room to swing a 2-8 door. Also, it looks like clothes hanging on the left side of the closet will stick out into the doorway. Centering the door will fix that.
5.Make it a cased opening by getting rid of the pocket door; it'll be open all the time anyway.
6.Extend the vanity to the wall (where the linen closet was).

Bradley--if you don't like the swinging door, consider a sliding top hung 'barn style' door from the bedroom side. be aware of outlet locattions within the path of travel that may interfere with it's smooth operation. You wouldn't have to tear up and rebuild the closet wall to conceal the pocket door into the bath that would replace a swinging door this way, only to move one outlet, and possibly a wall switch, if at all. Getting rid of the tub isn't an option for us. I think the tub could go next to or under the window though, I didn't think of that...but then the toilet would be right in front of the door...

If a pocket door or two smaller "cafe" doors don't work another option is a gliding "barn" door mounted on the Bedroom side. The only problem with "barn" doors is elect. switches mounted on that wall!

BTW, With Master Bathroom design, i always try and get the toilet in a separate "compartment" so two people can use the bathroom at the same time, privacy, etc. completing the wall at that end of the room with a "pocket" privacy door would be perfect!!

We thought about the gliding exterior door but for a bathroom that my husband may be sleeping and i'll be blow drying my hair, etc. we thought a gliding door would let out too much sound as would swinging doors. I'm interested in the closed toilet area though, do you think we could fit that in somehow?

Yes, by completing that end wall (between toilet and tub) and adding a pocket door to provide privacy.

Also, two 1668 "cafe"out swing or in swing doors would work nice between Bedroom and Bathroom. (As mentioned in first post above)

Would you consider moving the closet door? The closet could be accessed from the bedroom which creates better privacy for one person in bathroom while another accesses the closet. If you do this be sure to leave at least 24 inches to the right of the closet door for adequate storage to be built. I'd also figure out a way to create a toilet room.

Hey Amy, great idea! Most of my customers prefer to access the master walk-in closet from the Bedroom, steam etc. from the shower/bath is a concern for some! And I agree, with this current layout it would be easy to put the toilet in a compartment at the end of the room, just extend the wall to the linen space and provide a "pocket" door to close off for privacy! It a done deal!!!
