Curious, is that a pulley next to the window on the left?

Perhaps that pulley is connected inside the wall to the blinds?

That coffee table on the cowhide rug is pretty useless, unless you just want to have a candy jar on it. I don't see any usable tables near the sofa. Also, there is too much junk in front of the TV - I could barely recognize it as a TV. The mirror has too much junk in front of it as well - no need to see the back of a clock. Also, there is unnecessary junk in front of the fireplace, almost hiding it. Lose the owl, and put that table close to a chair/sofa where it can be put to better use. It is odd to have chairs facing away from a fireplace, but then perhaps it is a non-functioning fireplace. It looks like the delivery service placed the furniture wherever it happened to land.

Perhaps the bad staging is meant to be a distraction from something worse.

Not much discipline in that room. I see it. I like it. I want it.

The furniture looks comfortable. I think if they subtracted a few items, it would be better (like the layered rugs). I'm not a fan of those two walls painted such a contrast, but it's not my house. A long, narrow room, like my living room that is 12x21 and punctuated with doors and windows, is a challenge to decorate-- so I have some empathy for the situation.

    ummmmmm yes please.

I think it's not staged-and I think they'd better stage, in their case..

and I truly honestly rarely think that

(I'm also not a big fan of reminders like "home" and "wander" etc..and I do have some problems with continuity of experience so I can understand reminders, in general)

Ahhhh I didn't even recognize it was the same room!

I don't know. I guess I'd have to see it in person to judge, but it's not looking promising.

The pulley thing is weird. But intriguing.

    Here's the listing:

    Listing

It was either staged by a not-too-talented stager or decorated by a not-quite-talented-enough decorator. The fixed portions, like the kitchens and baths, look dated and of middling quality materials.

Way too cluttered for a listing picture. Living/downstairs could benefit from a large depersonalization, starting with the blue paint. Unless this is a real hot market or priced low, those things are a turn-off.

Looks like someone went to Home Goods in the fancy part of town. Way too many slightly generic, slightly trendy accessories, nothing personal. I'd love to have a lot of that stuff, just not all at once. British flag pillow and steer horns?

The pulley is on the other window as well. I imagine it's to move the shutters open and closed - although I suppose it could be a faux affectation.

I don't mind this room to live in (except for the horns) but as a listing, no. Really hard to envision your own things in this house. This is the only room in this house that I don't mind.

I don't mind it as a listing..I mean as a buyer..I'm ok with looking past stuff.. but I don't believe a stager could do that specifically to list..if they re stagers then I'm a ballerina

I think it's just how the family decorated it..? (uptalk? lol)

It feels like staging by a builder/developer. They probably use the same pieces in every project, whether they really work or not.

Too many small items for the size of room.

Yikes! It looks like a gift shop with all that "stuff", and I'm a girl who likes her "stuff"! But none of this even relates!

I detest a room where all the light comes from the ceiling. No lamps, no end tables, clearly no one reads in this room! One can't read from a ceiling light unless it's lit like a school classroom.

    Just awful...

    "I love catalogs!"

I was going to say this belonged to a Texan, with the horns and rug. They want to be devil may care casual but tried so hard it hurts. Broadly speaking, I like it, forced informality notwithstanding.

Ya, too much hobby lobby crap tacked to the walls.

I don't think people who list on Redfin are likely to be paying for staging. And most of it looks way too much stuff to be staged.

Perhaps the owners love to "wander" and gather. I read YEARS ago most often one's stuff all sort of just goes together because we like what we like and that will show through and connect items. I am hearing y'all don't think that theory is working for these folks. I would choose a larger, not round coffee table somethin somethin and I want a foot stool to be lower, the wreaths on the stairs seem fussy but yet it is different, for not being Christmas, and that is interesting.

Why I'm all for wandering and gathering. It just simply seems that they wandered and gathered in their local Home Goods..a lot.

Hence a confusion I think..they do have personal things that they're clearly interested it..but besides that, listing shows enourmous amount of items that are used for staging

Gosh, I don't think so. I believe most of us here could do a better job. No to the blue paint, round tables, wreaths and steer horns and just general clutter, and yes to books, side table and reading lights as anglo pointed out. The couch right in front of the large opening seems strange and I'm pretty sure it's bad feng shui.

I think part of the problem is, at least as far as I can see, there is no other place in the room to put a TV. So they got stuck of where to put the couch.

Overall I like the room. I would pull out all of the wreaths and a few other things though and feel much more comfortable with it.

Looks like Home Goods had a sale on wreaths.

I like the blue. Hey, it is NOT depressive grey.

Does seem to be a bit Home Goods in catch-all style, and WANDER does have to go. Not fond of that overhead spider lighting system, and having good lighting for reading and so forth would be nice.
