Messed up situation

My husband and I have 3 children together. His 2 kids from previous marriage came to live with us 6 yrs ago. Its been tough with them. They came from abusive background (not in this country). Mother was no contact for years, but all of the sudden started talking to them...asking for money. Husband had an argument in June because their mom is sick and my stepson (18) wanted US to send her money. We started car shopping this past month and brought home a car to test drive. Next day social services shows up at my door. Accusations against my husband. So he had to leave or they were going to take my ALL my kids away. Now I'm stuck with the 16yr old. The 18 year old I had leave and he is staying with his father. 16yr old out of control...doesn't listen or talk, and she just goes as she pleases. Meanwhile I have everthing to do - work, cook, clean, groceries, back and forth with taking young ones to school. I'm a single mom now. Holidays coming up. Just everything is destroyed - planned vacation, holidays. My husband can't even see the kids or talk to them. He didn't do anything! Gave those kids everything! Like I'm in shock and disbelief. No one to talk to either. Its too embarassing. Neighbors have become distant (because social services gave them a card that if my husband shows up to call them). We're looked at like monsters now.

I hope you’ve engaged a family law attorney. Just to clarify: the 18 year old called CPS out of anger that you wouldn’t send deadbeat Mom money?

Yes got an attorney. As far as motives, could be. I'll leave that to the investigators.

Well the tide finally turned. Daddy was allowed to come home. Stepdaughter is in foster care. Stepson has 5 month ultimatum (til he graduates) to get out. He's so creepy. He refuses to eat with us, doesn't speak. 5 more months, 5 more months. I've read alot of posts and was actually shocked that things like this happen more frequently than not. Motives...they really hate us. I found through text messages that they blame my husband for his moms drug addiction and indiscretions. This was 19yrs ago! They feel it is his responsibility to support her. They've been brainwashed by their mom and uncle. They wanted to break us up. But yeah we're still probably going to have to move.

Frankly I don’t know why creepy stepson isn’t in foster care as well. Hope things improve once he’s gone.

They won't take him. Even though he is in high school. In this state once 18 they don't get involved.

It just keeps getting worse. 18yr old boy psychotic. Found a butcher knife in laundry basket. Wouldn't admit to putting it there. Figure it was around New Years Eve. Hadn't been on here in a while. Its like having a lion in your home. Trying to keep it tame. We told him we would help with an apartment for him to move out. Waiting to sell and move on. Don't want him to know where we are going. He says "they" keep pushing him but won''t tell us who or to do what. He's using drugs - I think antidepressants. Nothing on a standard testing panel - we already took his urine sample before. Says we're abandoning him again. But what are we to do? Live like this. Support him, pay for everything, and he treat us like this? We have to deadbolt our bedroom doors at night. He needs to leave the nest. I feel a big blow up coming. Nothing we can do either. Kicking him out like this would only ignite revenge even further. Plus you can't do that either anyway - part of tenant code. Have to go thru process - 30 day notice followed by a court hearing. Can you believe that. He has to do something for us to react - circumstantial evidence doesn't cut it. Can't send him to mental hospital - they can't force him to go and he is an adult. Military would be great for him but they do background checks before boot camp now - up to a year. Realistically though I'm not sure he could handle the mental component of boot camp. Plus to give him training on weapons. That scares me too. Can't wait to move though. 2 more months.
