I like the color palette you have selected, however, I agree with Judy, the colors should remain the same. Especially for the white columns. The garage doors can also remain white.

What I think you can do is that you can play with the colors of the front door. Try a dark green, red, or even black, with that you'll give a fresh and unique look to your house from the outside.

I think the trim needs to stay one color. If windows are staying white, the rest should. The column throws me off a bit because they stand out too much against the darker house and door. My opinion is that they should not pop that much. They look like they should be holding something up but they are not. I am usually against a white front door, but you need something like white that will totally blend with the columns OR something that will really draw you to the door instead of column red, black, yellow, you will have to play with shades of different colors.

I presume they are supporting the arch, but the effect is lost at a distance. I would do shutters and columns in black, doors a natural wood stain.

Well it was a dreary day so maybe that's why it's "moody." Yes, Kaza I have had a green door before, really trying to tone down the formality of the house, which may be a mistake but decoenthusiaste, that may be what I can do is change the door to wood. It's metal right now so that means a whole new door. I'm not sure my house is comparable to the one in your example, which is gorgeous and has much more detail but a little touch of rustic is what I'm going for. Thanks

If you want something less formal looking, how about lightening up the shutters and putting in some bright flowering shrubs and annuals? Does one of these photos appeal to you for shutter color or flowers?

I agree with that, rustic could work too, probably the natural wood stain. I liked the decoenthusiast's example front door image however, I don't agree on painting the columns black. I would keep them in white. It gives a more natural and clean look.
