ramv3. Don't respond if you do not have first hand knowledge.

The ourfigs and formerly the F4F forum has complete details of this scam.emmettb_gw's reaction is suspicious.

    Buyer beware.

I ordered his trees two years ago. Never got the trees or a refund.

    To summarize,

He seemed to start out with good intentions but made tons of mistakes. Over sold, stopped communicating, never shipped anything, stopped issuing refunds, made silly excuses, broke his pinky toe, spent all of the money from the orders, got kicked off of PayPal, etc.

It does sound like he is starting to send some cuttings with new orders and possibly using that money to try to catch up on old orders. Giving some the option to switch to cuttings instead of trees since the earliest they might ship in a best case scenario would be next spring. Only a handful of reports though.

So, you have a better chance of getting your cuttings with a new order and could possibly help him catch up on old orders or it could snowball again and you could be waiting three years plus for your order.

If you do order, I suggest using a credit card so that you can get a refund without him issuing it to you and make the refund request in less than 6 months.

cponzi's advice is good. Pay with a credit card. And hope that the cutting you got is true to variety.

emmettb_gw, did you order from figcuttings? Did you receive your cuttings? Were they true to variety?

I did order 2 times from figcuttings both times they were shipped the same day both times I received them in 3 days both times I received extra cuttings.

    Emmettb_gw, thanks for your response.

I am genuinely happy that you received the cuttings from greenfin. I dont have any quarrel with you.

But you are distinctly in the minority here. If I paid for something and there was a pretty high chance that I would not get my order filled, I would be very careful.

The problem is no one that I know of has not received their order from his recent sales.I do understand the concerns because of what happened last year and the year before,no excuses he screwed up. Now is he trying to make good? So people are claiming this is just a new scam, with no proof

I think I understand where you are coming from...you think he is turning things around and deserves another chance.

History is all we have to go on though. Imagine if you were looking up something on Google maps. Let's say a restaurant and it only had one star. Maybe 1.5. All of the reviews for the last two years say that they ordered and paid but never received their order and couldn't get a refund. Only a handful of recent reviews mention they got their order. Would you be in a hurry to try that restaurant or nice into to another restaurant with five stars?

James has upset a lot of people for years and their view of his operation isn't going to change anytime soon...especially not in only a couple months now that he is shipping new orders. That actually upsets old customers even more. In order for him to be seen as a reputable dealer in the fig community, he'll have deliver on all of the previous orders, maintain a history of good sales (Maybe a year or two), and the varieties will have to grow a year or two to prove their authenticity. Some will probably never accept him. He has a long long bumpy road to change the reputation of figcuttings.com.

I hope he succeeds and changes things around. Another vendor would be good for the fig community but I'm not going to give him any more of my money. Probably not for at least another 3-4 years assuming all goes well for him.

Amazing that there's folks out there that still vouch for this guy...lol.

I am amazed when people post and have not read all comments LOL

If anyone receives their cutting or plants from an old order, please post it so we'll know that he is working on the old backlog of orders.

The whole fig family is about money. If you don't see it your blind

If anyone has never received a cutting that was not true to type please post

"The whole fig family is about money", yeah, most things in life are about money.

Just wanted to be informed if anyone received their old order. Can't follow the logic of your last post. If I take 100 orders for fig cuttings and ship out NONE, yeah, no one received a cutting that was not true to type. That is a true statement, it is also not the point as no one received any cuttings.

I joined this site to comment after reading about this topic.

I ordered fig cuttings from figcuttings.com on January 29 and received them today, February 2. I originally ordered 4 different varieties. James did not have one of the varieties in stock and suggested a different variety and offered an extra variety at no additional cost. I agreed to his offer and received a total of 5 different varieties. Also, I received more than the amount of cuttings I ordered per variety. For one of the varieties, I ordered 3 pieces but received 6.

I emailed him on February 2 to inquire about the shipping status, and he responded in a short time that he had shipped the items and that I should have received them. He was been very responsive. I guess I should have checked my mailbox before I emailed him...lol

I received the cuttings in Ziploc bags and there appears to be some condensation inside. I guess this is a sign that the cuttings are fresh and alive. I will start the rooting process tomorrow.

In short, I began to get nervous after seeing the various negative posts about this site because I had already placed my order. My experience with James has been the total opposite of these negative posts. I don't know what the issues was with him in the past, but he did good by me.

A little about me, I am a newbie and my first order ever was with figcuttings.com.

    Hope this helps.

I received an e-mail offer to convert my old order of fig trees to cuttings several weeks ago. The offer was for extra cuttings because cutting aren't trees. And rooting a large number of cuttings is never a 100% success. I took him up on the offer and received some very nice cuttings. Am rooting half the cuttings now and feel pretty good about it because they were packaged well and were very fresh.

And I still have half the cuttings in reserve if there are failures on my first attempt. So I think its all going to work out fine and I will have a couple extra varieties that I was interested in.

I ordered cuttings from him as well and they arrived in good condition. I hope he makes all his old tree orders right for those still waiting.
