Paint shade

Which color of Sherwin Williams paint would be more elegant for formal living and dining room, Creamy White, Antique White, or Divine White?

It would depend on the color of your flooring, trim, furniture, lighting, sun exposure, etc... Could you please post a pic?

I am sorry to say that I don't have any pics to post. My home was flooded during Hurricane Harvey and has been gutted. The sheet rock has been replaced and the painters should start painting by the end of the week. l have chosen 32 inch square tiles in a beige color with slight hints of gray and off white. The table in the dining room and furniture legs will be in an expresso color. The upholstery will be tan/cream. I am looking for a cream or alabaster sofa for the open adjacent living room. I would like to find a brass glass coffee table with an area rug underneath. Muted goldtone or gold leaf accessories will be used as accents. I am looking for a more transitional look than I had previously. I am not looking for a stuffy formal home, but more of a casual but elegant feel. I love monochromatic designs.

Out of the three, I would probably try a sample of the Creamy White first.

Karen, can you post a pic of the tile? and maybe the upholstery choice?

The dining chairs are still unopened in the boxes they were shipped in and I am not yet living in my home. The floor tile is the larger tile at the top of the pic.

i only see one tile. and the white glass in the background. I'm assuming it's the former? the marble looking one?

The dining chairs have a similar look to this chair. The floor tile pic shows ywo samples. There is a tile at the top of thr marble look tile. The light is distorting it.

Karen, I think there's a lot that can be crowd sourced at GardenWeb, but if it were my house, I'd be making the choice on my own in the house in the particular room, with large pieces of posterboard on the wall painted in each shade, with a representative tile, a good-size upholstery fabric sample, and a sofa cushion. And check at different times of day -- morning, noon, and night -- and on sunny days and overcast days.

For our new house, I needed two different shades of green paint for rooms right across the hall from each other, because one room has northern exposure and the other southern exposure.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. I will get paint samples asap. I never knew there was so much to consider when selecting a shade. Thanks again!

Oh boy I remember going through this with my beige-y tile. I would look at SW Shoji White # 7042 or SW Aesthetic White # 7035.

    #1 & #2 is Shoji

    #3 & #4 is Aesthetic

Those are beautiful choices, too! Thanks.

I have SW Antique White throughout my house (except my master bedroom), including on the ceilings. Soft white trim (Kelly-Moore Swiss Coffee). I don't know if it's "elegant," but I've loved it the 8 years it's been on my walls. It's especially lovely in the afternoon, rich and warm, like French vanilla ice cream.

I love SW Antique White as well, have it in two bedrooms and baths. There is beige-y tile in one of the bathrooms. It looks nice with the navy vanity and white appliances. I'm not sure if I would like it in a dining room with beige tile. It's a warm antique white with a tic of yellow.

That sounds really nice. I am looking for warmth. I am also looking for a color that would be easy to decorate around!
