Need advice on lawn scheduling

We have used a "professional lawn care service" for years. They have done all of the fertilizing, insect, fungus control, etc. We want to try and do it ourselves and save some $$$ now that we are both retired. I am searching for a general guide for lawn care for a St Augustine lawn in the DFW area . SOUTHERN LIVING magazine gives general instructions for each month, but I am looking for a poster or calendar.....any suggestions? Thnx in advance. Margee

Just think about what your company did. They probably came out every 6-8 weeks. That is not an unreasonable schedule to follow for your own lawn care and maintenance. The main difference is that you may not be getting the same chemicals or fertilizers that your lawn company used. However, some people have moved on to doing themselves and they say the stuff the get from Lowes or Home Depot are sufficient for the same lawn care that satisfies them.
