I’m back after looking up Laujuzan Tea. I had never heard of it before. There’s not much info on HMF about it. What made you choose it? I really like it! Lisa

All your babies look really happy and healthy! I really want MN sometime in the future. Where did you find yours?

I got all of these from Rose Petals. Laujuzan and Bassoues are French "found" roses. Isabella Ducrot is an Italian "found" rose. Either Cydney at Rose Petals or Angel Gardens imported them (or maybe both did). I'm a sucker for that Clementina Carbonieri-type coloring! A few of the others are imports as well.

Needmoremulch, you have acquired an amazing collection of Tea roses! Your potted storage looks like a public garden in miniature. Marechal Niel is making me weak in the knees. I'd love to know which nursery shipped such healthy plants, and I'd also love to know what attracted you to the various cultivars. You and I will both be growing Comtesse de Leusse. We'll have to share photos as our babies mature! Carol

Rose Petals Nursery in Florida sent me these, Carol. I potted them up into larger containers to let them grow up some more before they get planted out into the big, wide world. :) I ordered things from RPN that weren't available from ARE (where I usually do my rose shopping). I've also got Princesse de Sagan coming from Reverence (I got a beautiful Niles Cochet from them this summer). The Florida nurseries really have some amazing collections.

They sure do! I may have to do some cross country shopping and shipping someday. It doesn't get much farther than FL to OR! Carol

These are simply to die for. I've never seen a more lovely collection of young roses, and your garden is going to be glorious. Excellent choices!

John Hook says about "Laujuzan" that it possibly is Comtesse Riza du Parc. In any case it has a beautiful bloom.

Small but going strong. I need to take and post some pics.

We got a good rain today, maybe I'll get a mini flush out of it. :)

Beautiful pictures Shelia!! Is it a slow grower for you? Is it more hardy or sensitive to the cold compared to other Teas?

Not a slow grower, Alana. This coming will be the first Winter in the ground for this batch of new Teas, so I can't speak to cold tolerance yet. So far here, my older Teas all have gotten through the Winters fine. Rosette Delizy died back to a stub her first Winter and rebounded to a strong no fuss bush. This Winter coming will also be the first for Marechal Niel (Noisette) in the ground, so we will see.

I worried about growing Teas here because I am not in California, but 30 miles North of. This has not turned out to be a problem. Lilacs grow here too and gallicas happily too. If anything, I am cooking a few plants inside a courtyard filled with sand I think. Some clematis are doing well (Perle d'Azur, Jackmanii) but others seem to find it too hot and dry I think. That rosepetals list of plants is wonderful.

Alana, here is LT this am. It has been in the ground a month and seems vigorous to me. I do not know ultimate size.

Laujuzan Tea has made a nicely shaped shrub with foliage all the way to the ground. Lovely flowers, too.

As a cut flower...

I love these, need more! Can't wait till Spring.

We usually keep getting some blooms through December, but most years no blooms in January/February. LT has what I would call a typical tea rose scent.

Can you tell me more about Bassoues Tea?

Bassoues Tea has been really healthy and happy here. I will see if I have some photos still saved. I will know more about hardiness in a few weeks after the damage from the big freeze finishes showing itself.🥶😭 It was in a pretty exposed position.

Do you call the pots you have been growing them in "tea cups"?
