Ixia in pots, are they safe outside over winter?

I live in zone 8, ixia are said to be hard 8-10. Since my ixia are in pots, are they ok outside? Generally speaking of course. I know if we have a long hard freeze I will bring them in or at least drag close to my house and cover.
