What is the size of this closet?

I have the almost same closet layout and 2 windows. 1 is an oval shaped,good lighting but not practical, I was thinking of buying cheap bookcases and gradually build a custom shelving unit.. So far I have gotten 2 small bookcases and removed 1shelving unit. Next is to buy 2more bookcases this one will be wood and attach rods.. Gradually adding to suit my needs.. I also plan to add trim or molding to top of bookcases. I've gotten everything white. . Pint.erest have great DIY shelving ideas as well.. Good luck.

You don't have to hire a professional to get a functional closet. We have a small walk-in closet that we reworked a few years ago and it has worked out very well. I suggest that you get rid of the wire shelving and go with wooden shelves and clothing rods.... They work so much better! You seem to have plenty of room to have a double rod going along one or two walls which will give you much more hanging space. Most people only need a small space for full length clothing anyway. I splurged and bought wooden hangers for the entire closet and love them! I store shoes in clear shoe boxes that fit perfectly on shelves. My husband installed 2 bamboo chests stacking one on top of the other to conserve space and they provide tons of space for folded clothing ( he bolted the two dressers together and attached them to the wall for safety). Hope some of the ideas that worked for me will give you something to think about!

Buy several ikea lack shelving units and secure well to the wall - add various heights of hanging rail in between them to accommodate various heights of storage required cheap, looks good and easy to do !

Martha Stewart had an online closet organizing tool where you can put in your measurements and it tells you which of her closet organization pieces (home depot) will fit. You could use it just for layout and shop around for what's in your budget.

If you stick to mostly hanging layouts rather than drawer units you save money.

I recommend double hanging for at least one wall.
My husband is tall, he uses top half and I use bottom half. Double rods are useful for short item, shirts or pants folded on hangers.

A portion of one wall can be a section of shoe shelves.

None of the stuff is wire coated and we find it to be well built.
