Accent Color(s)

I'm building a new home in the Spring. It will be sort of a Pottery Barn/Rustic Glam style. We sold our last home 3 years ago to start building but bought a house to flip due to a poor rental market. I've used teal in the current home as an accent.

For the new home, I think I am going to use my old color-Benjamin Moore Hampshire Grey. It was a greyed down or muddied down green, not really grey at all. It was a great neutral that looked awesome with stained woodwork. I think I will be doing a combination of linen couches with a worn leather recliner. Medium-dark distressed wood floors with arched wood beams in the living room. Cream and distressed wood kitchen cabinets. So a very neutral base!

I tend to love the linen type pillows with holiday or seasonal appliqués. In the kitchen, my oven and stove can have special ordered colored knobs for a splash of color(though expensive to do). My baking mixer will along with other small appliances will be behind cabinets. I am also thinking how much I would love to change out dishes for the season: Winter, Spring, Summer, Thanksgiving/Fall, Christmas.

I will have quite a few shelves and other spaces for decor accessories. The best I am coming up with is to get a bunch of accessories with greenery, browns, and creams. Then change out my living/dining/kitchen accessories for something more seasonal. So for fall, through in burnt orange throws/pillows with linen appliquéd pillows combined with harvest and pumpkin type accessories scattered throughout.

Does this work? Are there other colors I can incorporate throughout the whole year for a neutral base? My last home, I used cobalts/raspberry/yellow and loved the look. But I didn't do much for seasonal decorating either. I've always loved color but just can't think of any accent color(s) I want to commit to for 5 years! Does anyone else change up everything based on seasons? I would love to see the same room over several decor changes!

The basement will also be a neutral wall color, maybe even the same greyed down green. Otherwise, my bedroom will be a dark navy, kids rooms will be purple, teal, and a dark charcoal for the boy with either lime green, red, or blue as an accent. So I'm not afraid of color! I also have already accumulated some fun seasonal accessories to decorate the kids rooms for seasons, but it will be so much fun to find more. I think I just want the main living spaces, even deck to change throughout the year for a fresh (to me) look. But I am really feeling locked in with starting with brown/green/cream accessories. I need more neutral colors! LOL
