They all sucker. Probably something with denser branching would also be preferable.

how much ground do you have to give over to them ... i dont think of these as a great choice for small suburban lots

if you have a foot or two at the property line.. you probably need something else ...

perhaps you ought to provide a better physical description of your project ...

The best fall color is usually on the staghorm sumac...not really a nicely contained plant. I have seen it used as a nice accent in a patio where the constructed features of the patio basically enforced more tree like growth...but a) it was in North Dakota, and b) when I saw this, it was a mature planting. Not sure how my impressions might have changed if seen in younger stages.

Gro-lo is a more commonly found variety, short, but again...a space eater.

Tiger eyes is a yellow leaves form with a less vigorously spreading habit.

Tiger Eyes is lovely - the fall color is stunning.

Tiger Eyes ('Bailtiger') being a cut-leaved stag-horn sumac, with the same habit as the green version a border of that one would be comparatively low, broad and open. And still suckering. Along with being a large area of yellow leaves - this plant seems more suited for specimen or accent use.

Have seen Tiger Eyes in a mass planting - it was very attractive. But form is not very hedge-like, even en masse.

A little yellow goes a very long way. Many would find a big planting of yellow plants to be excessive.
