It seems that even though the spectrum looks good for the 3100K or 4200K 315W light emitting ceramic lights and energy consumption is better and the lights don't degrade as fast compared to metal halide lights the lec lights just won't have the intensity (penetration power) to the plants unless brought pretty close to the plants which limits the footprint of the light and would seem to indicate a light mover would be a necessity to get growth out of several plants. I overwinter citrus cinnamon and other fruit plants in the basement. When temps outside are good they go outside.

I am debating to add more lights but am leaning toward 1000 watt metal halide (eye hortilux blue which also has a good spectrum comparable to the lec's) and supplementing the UV with eye hortilux T5 FS + UV or some reptile lights that also have UV and are fluorescents that plug into a standard floor light fixture - I think the bulb is 25 watts - just not sure if I will get enough UV to adequately supplement the metal halides with the amount that would be available from the LEC's.

Perhaps I could use a blacklight to supplement the UV
