I would not switch them. That would put your pantry a LONG way from your kitchen. Also, I would rather enter the kitchen than the dining room.

Anything is possible. At this point I am thinking you are right, leave as is.

Valid point, mark_rachel. There have been times I find myself going to the pantry over and over while cooking a meal. Thanks for the reassurance!

I agree it’s best to leave it with garage entry and pantry on that side. However I did notice the fridge is right next to a wall. You need some space or the French door won’t open all the way to take out bins to clean. Not sure on fridge specs, but maybe 6” or so to be on the safe side.

It depends on your priorities. I'm fine without walk in closets, most plans have them, most people want them. There's some here saying they're fine with a windowless kitchen. It's an absolute straight no for me. I would not want to build, nor buy, a windowless kitchen. Build for you. If you're uncomfortable with the concept, don't build it. Maybe detach the garage, maybe move the dining area to the left or right, or have the pantry between as something of a space divider. Find a way, redesign the space and get the pantry closer of course.

My sister has a very similar layout -- kitchen in the center with the dining room near the windows and it works quite well. It is really nice to sit at the dining table for meals or anything else and look out onto the back yard. IMHO, you rarely enjoy the view while cooking or cleaning up in the kitchen. Your layout is also so open, and if the windows are good, you should get plenty of natural light.

you could try for all 3 areas (living, dining and kitchen) south facing. At the moment your garage wall gets the sun and view
