Hutch has to stay on that wall.l as there’s no other place to put it.

Do you need 5 chairs every day. If not,I would remove the one on the end

which would free up space. You could always bring it into the kitchen when needed. Perhaps recover the chair sets with a pretty material - wouldn't be too hard to do.

Would the space allow you to turn the table, add a bench along the wall which will really help balance the room and your wall décor will also feel more balanced, given it will be centered. There are so many options for the wall.

Maureen, I wish it would but our current table is 65” and is thus too long to have against the wall. We’d have to get a shorter table to make that design work. But I love the picture you posted

Love your place. It looks very homey. I lik the idea of the plates on the wall. You could collect an assortment of country style China very inexpensively at tag sales and thrift stores.
