Unchangeable Light Fixture

I bought this house 2+ years ago, the bulb in this fixture is finally dying and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to open it up to replace the bulb! the fixture is about 2' wide and flush to the ceiling. I've tried twisting the base, rotating the plexiglass, pushing up on the plexiglass, etc, all to no avail!

?????????? Shut off circuit breaker and take a hammer to it????????

Have you tried pulling it straight down by slipping a thin blade under the base? It may be held into a recessed fixture by spring clips.

Any chance it's an integrated LED fixture? Maybe there's simply no bulb to change and the circuitry is failing? Rather than focusing on the lens, perhaps try pulling on the base or twist and pull on it (lefty-loosey).

Thank you guys for the suggestions! I especially love the hammer and plastic bag idea, as that's exactly what I've been wanting to do to that light for a while now. It turned out to be a non-replaceable bulb, so the whole thing is gone and soon to be replaced by better lights. Yay!
