That water temperature shouldn't be a problem, 78F = approx 25C. They do like bright light. Mine are in filtered sunlight. Yours might be adjusting after transport and being replanted. The seedlings are fairly brittle and need to be handled carefully to prevent breakage. But they are quite tough and usually recover quite well. The seeds normally float around until they get caught up on the edges of water bodies and then put down roots.

I got mine in 2005 and get frequent flowering and seeding. Ran out of people to give the seeds to (they grow so big no one wants them). Now I cut off the seed pods early and compost them.

This is my oldest one in 2010.

The same one early this year, water plants have over grown the pond.

Thanks Tropic, I was hoping you'd see this. I knew you had these from a few of your posts that came up on other forums. I actually hope these grow on the slower side because once they get as big as yours I'll have nowhere to go with them. The 3 survivors still look the same. Do you think there's any chance the one that wilted completely will come back if the roots are ok? As of right now the grow light is a little over 12" away, but once they straighten out (which they are beginning to) they should only be 4-6" away from the 15w fluorescent. Do you think this is a strong enough light for them? Should I be adding any fertilizer to the water? Sorry so many questions. Thanks again for the help.

I don't really know about artificial light but a 15w fluorescent light doesn't sound very strong. You'd probably need to ask where they sell them what would be needed for plants that like strong light but not direct sun. Looking at your seedlings it seems they've been in low light and become 'leggy'/elongated. They were probably floating and that's why they'd be bent up. However, they will straighten out but if the light is too low they could quickly grow a lot taller. They are fairly fast growers anyway, that's why I couldn't find people to give new plants away to. A bit of fertiliser for pond plants is good.
