Susanne, my citrus bloomed last year when indoors. I remember my ray ruby loaded with fruit last winter. Enjoy them. They certainly provide a natural and wonderful air freshener!

But what about fruits? Will it all need to come off for the spring flower?

So, we just got our spring flower in winter? Hmm, okay then. Moro and cara are the only one not flowering yet. Nothing to see that they will start anytime soon.

Like you, I was equally concerned when my grapefruit flowered in late summer, outdoors...Now the tree has 3 small fruits, indoors. I don't think they will ripen late winter, as usual. When will this fruit ripen? Summer? Is my tree confused or will it bloom late winter, as usual, while bearing 3 fruits? I thought only Meyer lemons bloom/form fruit all year?

Most of my trees seem to bloom year round and I do eventually get fruit and usually near the same time period as those growing outside year round. Maybe trees just get confused in the more northern climates as we bring them in and out. The temperatures and light conditions are different than where they can grow outside year round. Light and temperature are factors that stimulate bud and flower spikes in plants so I expect the changes as we bring them in and out probably stimulate the trees to bloom. The trees seem to adapt well enough though and we do get fruit; maybe not always at the same time as in an outdoor environment, but usually close.
