Flooring for back entry

We just had our back door replaced which involved new subfloor and filling in a few steps and access to a greenhouse. Now we get to put in a new floor, and hopefully some built in type bench coat rack combo. We are completely split on what we think will make the house more appealing. We will be moving due to a job change in a few years so it needs to appeal to buyers. The house is a split level on three acres with a huge horse barn and pastures. I would like it to feel horse farm but not too in your face. It needs to be practical because it is a back door and will see lots of use with lots of snow. (upstate NY) I want to use a brick veneer in a herringbone but my husband wants a brown tile or vinyl sheet flooring. The dark flooring is carpet in the kitchen which is also going to be replaced but again we cant agree. I would continue the hardwoods into the kitchen. He is bent on tile, the same tile that he wants in this entry.

This is what I have got. He is going to be putting in a light switch next to the door

This is what I would like to mimic. Brick, bench, coat hooks, and some storage uppers.
