Help! Accent wall advice

Hello, I am looking for advice about what colour and what I should paint for an accent wall. Attatched are two pic's of my Living Room/Dinning Room. I was thinking of painting the fireplace wall through to the dinning room in a *Blue Danube(Benjamin Moore paint). My husband thinks it would be too much but, I don't think it will. I also would like to get this clock to put between the two dinning room windows and a large piece of art for the wall where the Christmas tree is. I also, would like to know if I should paint just the inside part of the wall or should I paint the bulk head blue as well or leave it the light grayish brown colour? Thx Chauntell

The color you picked is beautiful, but I'm afraid it wouldn't really work well with the color of the dining room chairs. Blue and orange can look very nice together, but you don't really have those colors carried throughout the rooms. If you had an area rug with those colors and art and maybe upholstery in a piece in the living room, it could work. Is the red in the living room there all the time or just for your Christmas decor?

Instead of an accent wall (they have kind of fallen out of favor in home decorating), perhaps you could bring some color and life to your rooms using some pretty area rugs, one in the living room, one under the table. Then look for some art to hang that will also add some color. I, too, think you could find something more interesting (and colorful) than the clock.

To break up the large area of wall to the right of the tv, I might look for a tall cabinet of some kind, a bookcase, small china cabinet or such. Then hang some art between the dining room windows.

No, to the accent wall. It will look terrible and make the space feel far smaller. No to the clock. You can do better.

No to the accent wall and the clock. Instead of the clock, how about a painting or print. Just curious - do you have another couch facing your fireplace? If not, I would move yours to face it.

No, to the couch, we have a chair facing the fire place. On the other wall are two large arch ways, we used to have the couch facing the fire place but it blocked to much.

Thank you everyone. I'm thinking of changing the dining room set or may even having the chairs reupholered. Yes, the blue blanket and red Pillows are an everyday thing.

Do you think Painti g the whole room I the blue would be to much? the other wall has two very large arch ways to the kitchen and the eating area, then I have the staircase (up and down) and the front hallway.

Since paint is available in nearly every color, make some other decisions first. What fabrics do you want to /can you change? What is staying? What inspires you?

Put all those together and then try to identify a unifying color. I like blue a lot, but your space seems to want a warm bronze, green or gold (to me, but that could be the Christmas decor influence).

I think that maybe the dining room set is the one thing that's not in sync with the rest of the room. That being said, if you did replace it, then we could help you find a set that is more in the feeling of the rest of the room. Walls, drapes and furniture is fine but the accents are in sync with the chairs. We're here to help if you wish more help. The posts are correct, the blue would not work and breaking up two rooms with one wall of color is not a good idea. Think about it, this group could make your room absolutely inviting and beautiful. Sorry your bubble was burst but better to know the truth.
