Marvin All Ultrex Integrity - Problems with clutch

I just moved into a newly constructed farmhouse in Kansas with double hung Marvin All Ultrex Integrity windows throughout. I cleaned them today for the first time and had 4 windows jam due to clutch problems. These are not easy fixes and I'm really struggling to get them "back on track". HELP

Usually the easiest way to clean the Windows is to tilt the lower sash in and lean it against the sill (1st raise it about 4"), then tilt the upper sash in and clean it without removing it . Lift the lower sash up, clean it and tilt it in. This method is faster and easier. I always go over cleaning methods, and sash removal methods with owner.

Cleaning and then having operation issues is the number 1 call that we get. Unfortunately, no offense here, they are 99.99% the result of user error. I would encourage you to look at a few of the videos on how to clean the window. Its very likely that you are just getting it out of the clutch/balance mechanism.

If they have a stick it's usually time for replacement.

The videos helped a lot and after a couple of hours I got all of the clutches aligned and locked into the correct positions (4” from window sills).

Thanks.

P.S. since 98.9% of issues with these windows are clutch related and of these 99.9% are the result of operator errors, then maybe it’s time fore a more user friendly design?

They do make clips that can be inserted in the balance clutch that will keep the window from coming out. You can ask your dealer for those clips to prevent this in the future.
