Color for new dining table

I’m in the market for a new kitchen table. This is our only dining area (no formal dining.) Floors and cabinets are dark, so looking at grey-ish round or oval table. Thoughts on what would look best in this space? Open to ideas other than the below too.

First I would remove that weird lonely piece above the table it makes no sense at all and as for a table how many people do you want to sit , what don’t you like about the table you have?

I don’t like the color of it, and the design is a little too “country” if that makes sense. I’d like to seat 6 people. Couldn’t agree more about the light fixture!
