Hey, all! I just moved into a new home with a joint living and dining room, and I would love some suggestions as to how to best lay furniture out, use rugs in a combo space, etc.

The room isn't super large, and the floorplan below is as we have it currently, with the correct measurements. We walk in the front door smack-dab into the middle of things (no foyer, sadly), and have the dining area on the right and the living area on the left. The opening at the top right goes right into the kitchen, and the opening at the top left goes into a little reading nook/office area. There are also two windows along each side wall (not shown in the diagram)

What do you think? Should I get a smaller couch? Flip things around? Adjust rug sizes? Open to any and all ideas, because I'm a bit stumped on this one. My gut says smaller couch, have two rugs (rather than one giant one that spans the space), maybe put the tv along the left wall so it's easier to watch from the couch...
