      The house is sided with Maibec eastern white cedar shingles that have been factory finished with bleaching oil (which has a gray tint). The bleaching oil accelerates the natural weathering of the shingles to an even driftwood gray over 6-12 months. Without the bleaching oil, the weathering of cedar shingles can take a number of years and is typically quite uneven. Visit www.maibec.com/en/colors/bleaching-oil for more information on the product.

      i am likely going to be choosing maibec/bleaching oil for my home. do you happen to know how soon after installation this picture was taken? my understanding is that the color changes over time, so would be interesting to see more recent pictures to understand how it has weathered over the last months...
