Whether as hardy or not 'Picturata' has the inferior characteristic of being consistently unstable, with leaves showing full-sized central splashes often blending into a percentage of those that do not - frequently together on the same shoot, so that removal of the incorrect foliage is not a matter of simply cutting out entire reverted sections.

If you like variegated Aucuba, you might look into Sulphurea Marginata. Much more stable and seems quite hardy. I have not tried it in zone 6 though.

You may see the latter offered under the incomplete synonymous name 'Sulphurea'.

I see that of the 6 selections Monrovia is showing for some reason 'Picturata' is the only one(!) they are not indicating as hardy to Zone 6.
