Wrong time of year for seed - forms here in May or June. In general Acer seeds are best fresh. Dirr says about propogation: "Seed, 41 degrees F for 90-120 days. I have tried cuttings with no success." (Manual of Woody Landscape Plants, 1998) Also, unless you have cool nights in summer (generally in the mountains in zone 7), acid soil and shade, it won't be happy.

It would be forest style bonsai, so I would be able to control soil pH and shade...cool nights might be a bit harder to control, but I can work something out.
