Thanks for the nice words Vlad, Dave and John. My trees are a reflection of all the help and advice I've received from wise growers like yourselves right here on this forum.

I brought some trees inside tonight, it may get below freezing. Others I put in a utility room connected to the house. Only the citrumelos are staying out unprotected tonight. It was raining earlier, trees were wet, so I spread papers on the floor to catch some water.

I don't know which is prettier, ornaments on a Christmas tree or fruits on a citrus?

Fruits on a citrus tree hands down.

I've been getting lots of new winter growth as well on my Persian Lime. My kitchen is turning into a jungle.

Thank you Jenny :) My trees love getting out from under the light for an hour and posing for pictures. I had ordered a 5 gal Minneola tangelo from Harris last week and have had to put it on hold with the cold weather. Ruth says she watches for weather along the path of a shipment. May have to wait until spring but I'm really excited about it.

Corey your trees are lovely. They must really make a beautiful focal point in your kitchen.

You guys: your trees look amazing! So many of you guys have tons of fruit! John...wow! Are your trees ok? I would be so scared with the cold weather and to see them with snow is just freaky! Here are a few pics of my indoor jungle...all appears well although I am spraying at least once a week with a concoction of neem, etc...in my attempt to control any pests. Still a long time before they can go back outside. Watering them is very difficult, but I have a method in place and am getting better at it. I am anxiously awaiting for more calamondin to ripen (so close!) so I can make marmalade.

I have more scattered throughout the house, but you get the idea....;)

ST lemons on one branchST again...budding all over and it also has numerous small lemons on most of the branches.A few ripe Meyers....I think I am going to preserve a few of these to try them out in some recipes. I’ve heard they are delicious preserved.Hard to tell from this pic, but the front branch is of my Oroblanco. This tree is still hanging on to two huge fruits that are not ripe yet. It spent all summer outside and, while it grew the fruit, did not grow much. It is now sprouting all over. If you look just to the left of the lamp on the bottom right, you will see the sprouts. I wish it would wait and grow outside!

I figured out a way to open the door and still keep cats out. Not very sophiticated yet but we are getting closer.

My oro blanco, hopefully some will stick. The first too fell off.

My shiranui, finally figured why the new growth would shrivel up and fall off. Culprit where spider mites. Wrestled the tree into the bathtup and showered. After tried, a load of neem. It seem it wants to grow again and I hope I have the pest under control. Here the first fruitlets and I'm cautiously hopeful.

Your babies are looking great Susanne! And those of us on the east coast have snow too although it is melting here and south of me. Looks like a pilated woodpecker at the feeder.

Have a bunch of hobbies that keep asserting themselves more since I retired... weather event tracking being one. Have all the stuff needed to crochet an afghan from a pattern I found a couple years ago but have spent more time reading/researching so I can get the citrus into a sort of "steady-state" care schedule, and then hopefully get to the "project" hobbies! :-D

Beautiful trees, blanket, and bird visitor Susanne! I am glad you have managed to keep the cats out. Your trees really look great, and I love the pitcher plant. I have had zero fungus gnats this year. Last year someone posted that she only got them on fresh mix (the fresh peat attracted them). I did not pot any trees in the Fall this year and have not seen any. I think she was right. Jenny, I learned to knit a few years ago but would love to learn to crochet. I am very torn because in my little spare time I like to read - very much - and so the knitting ends up losing out. I have knitted a bunch of hats and scarves though. It would be great to learn to crochet as well but I am not sure I have the energy at this point in my life.

I don't have much time for anything this month other than work. 62 gigs this month! Fiddling with my trees and other plants is my way of relaxing when at home.

Brian, I am so sorry. I just saw your post! I got my Minneola from Perry (floraexotica). One of the fruitlets fell a few days ago so I cut it just to smell it. Wow, even though it was too small to eat, the smell was amazing and it really reminded me of the Minneola my parents bought when I was young. Nowaday, the Minneolas from the market are not as good as before imho.

Brian, I just spot a few spider mites on a few of my trees!!!!! Really not happy at all since I am pretty sure that the fault is mine. I didn’t treat and quarantine properly my latest purchase. I had to bring all my trees in the shower to clean them and sprayed with some alcohol and soap. Now, I am sore everywhere! Serve me right and maybe I will learn not to buy any tree if I don’t have time to quarantine them.

Oh, I guess that we are looking for the same varieties. I really love mandarines too and lee x nova is very tempting. What makes me hesitate is that I am not sure how prolific it will be in our climate. I try to find information about this variety and nobody has any comment about how productive it is or if they got any fruits from their trees.

About the pixie, I contacted a David from greenscape last week and he said that he will tree to find this variety for us!! He said that he will have the 2018 list update in his website at the end of the month. Brian, don’t you have a xie shan cutting waiting for you? I wonder how Maggie is doing...

My 60 trees keep me pretty busy. When I am not tending to them, I am working on the college biology courses that I teach. I am finishing up now with grading but will soon start preparing for next semester. We own an old money pit that was built around 1840 which requires a lot of upkeep so that also keeps me busy. I need to finish plastering a bathroom and then paint it. Back deck needs to be replaced with a patio and front porch needs fixing, etc., etc. Almost all of the work I do myself.

Beautiful gorgeous blanket Susanne! I would have so much fun using a loom instead of hand knitting blankets. If your cats are desperate enough to explore, I've seen cats at my cat rescue climbing cage-like walls before. I'd still watch out for those kitties just incase :)

These days I go window shopping for orchids, mostly phals since this is the season for blooming. And I'm planning to do lots of baking. Being shut in during the cold winter means craving sweets and more time to satisfy that craving!

My best seed grown Meiwa kumquat tree is now 11 months 12 days since the sprout broke soil surface. This tree has excelled ahead of the other 4 Meiwa trees.

It has only been in the last month that this tree and another stated out growing the other 3. This one is way ahead.

This is my seed grown Fukushu. I got it from Cory about 2.5 years ago. Fukushu kumquat trees grow about 4 times as fast as Meiwa tree grow.The tree to the right is the tree pictured above. I gave the tree to the left to a feind that grows citrus trees.This is fukushu#1 and now belongs to my friend Mary.

John, SNOW that much and that early!!? So much for the greenhouse effect!

It took a week and a half or so to show up but I am seeing some leaf damage here and there, particularly on leaves that hadn't fully hardened off but even some white splotches on mature leaves. I suspect it was more from the night following the snow when it got down around 27 or 28F for a couple of hours. Hopefully this isn't a sign of an unusually cold winter coming up. We usually get out coldest temps during February.

I hope the damage is not too severe John!

This poor pink lemon battled scale and mold for over a month I didn't realize till the leaves started to fall off. The fruit seems clean with little to no damage. Hopefully they will ripen this winter. I just noticed the calamondin starting to shoot out new leaved and buds.

The temps have been extremely cold here. Not common for this time of year.

In the GH, day temps are in the low 60's we've had a few nights now down to 36F for a few hours..killing some of the banana leaves but citrus doesn't mind the cooler nights.

Thanks Nancy, some of my plants are on the light green side, even though I fertilized few days ago, I wish we had more bright and sunny days here. It is one day sunshine and 5-6 days of gloomy weather, the plants get confused. The coleus have come a long way since I grafted it, it was a grafting master-class for my kids and their friends :)

I have it inside a small enclosure with an open ceiling. I bought a thermometer and it constantly reads 63F and 55-90 humidity. I usually spray it 3 times a day but the last 2 days I haven't sprayed it.... I have also noticed my Meyer/Limequat tree has brown branch tips.... which makes me think the air is dry.... but the thermometer reads 55+ on the ground in the enclosure.... and when i move it to warmer, drier areas in my house, it increase to 70F and 40-50 humidity so it doesn't seem to bad.... Maybe it's too much light? I have a small led on both trees and a hot pepper seedling inside the enclosure.

Sunshine, I believe I see some Japanese plums trying to photo bomb your ripening meyers! That's one of several favorite non-citrus. They grow fast in the right location, flower right now in early winter with very scenty flowers, and make fruit in the spring well before our outdoor citrus have fruit. The fruit are tasty right off the tree if you can get them before the birds...juicy, sweet, and with a tart edge....remind me more of an apricot than anything else I know but still definitely not an apricot. They do fine down in the mid to upper twenties but may loose their fruit of temps stay too long in the twenties.

My New Zealand lemonade and Valentine pomelo will grow without bucket light enclosures.

John, yes you see loquat seedling with two trunks, I tried the fruit for the first time last year and liked it. Decided to grow couple seedlings to observe how they look and how they grow :)

Your seedlings are looking good Kelley! I let mine dry out and die lol. It did get up to about 6 inches tall and I loved seeing it grow but I realized I am not attentive enough if I do not love the fruit. And my seedling was a mystery hybrid! If I grow a seedling true to type of a fruit I am certain of its taste and flavor, I'll love it until it fruits! I do have an avocado seedling however and those I love. I have two different ones from seed which seem to leaf shapes different from each other! I'm excited to see how the trees turn out!
