Should I keep it??? And if so, where to put it???

I was thinking maybe a terrarium?in the corner? (not on this corner table, something lower? this is too top heavy; and not on the dining table but my husband thinks it getting too busy in the room.

Thoughts?

that is a no, too big for the center of the table and takes away from your pretty hanging lights. you need to take the candles off the table and the center thing. low candles like votives and maybe one large in the center. still say mercury glass would really be pretty in silver with the ighting. also glad you took the table runner off, it was just too much stuff on the table. remember ever wall in a room does not have to have something on it. let the room be able to breathe. less is more in every part of design.

Oh, I absolutely agree not on the table, I just threw it there to show where NOT to put it:) I'm just debating how to use it IF I'll keep it

As pretty as this lantern is, I do not think it belongs in this room.

take it back doesn't blend with the room. or use in a den.

I agree that the lantern is lovely yet not right for the room. Perhaps three mercury glass hurricanes down the center of the table or something simple picking up on the black and then adding cream candles like the images here. I found these images at Kirklands.com

I am considering purchasing the Ballard dining room chairs, are they comfortable and sturdy? Do you have any close up pics of them? Thanks!! Looks good! I too am going with a similar Restoration Hardware table and the Ballard chairs :) and a similar BJ paint lol

Michelle- chairs...yes comfy, yes sturdy, very happy with them. I added small pillow because a little deep. Not for your very small guests. I'll take a close up.

I'm loving it, I do nothing special for it, but my kids and visitors are alittle older. I do see it getting scratched a bit in the end where my daughter studies every night, but to me it adds to the memories. The table has a worn look to begin with

Great table. I have seen them in store but didn't understand how to use it. I love the drum lamps. This room looks very pretty as is. Anything u do more is icing on the cake.

Also, your rug is beautiful, it ties the wall colour and the chair colour together. Small or big doesn't matter if you love it a house is a home.

Hi there, I was thinking of buying this same table. We have small kids one 2 years and one 9 months. Does it really scratch a lot where you mentioned your daughter does homework. I'm debating on a zinc top or wood top that could stain AND scratch.

I really love the table, partly due to the way it ages adding to the distressed feel to it. That being said, yes it does scratch, but I don't go out of my way to protect it, I let it go, it's quite freeing. If you are worried about it staying "new" I'm not sure I would recommend it since your kids are so little. I hope that helps :|

Like the table, like the drum lights, like the wainscot, like the paint. Don't need to mention the too small rug! End chairs are too big, mirror could be bigger, or better yet good artwork would be great, curio cabinet is way way dated, and I hope the runner is gone by now? Nice transformation!

jkosusnik- honestly it doesn't bother me at all, its a memory for me. but my daughter is 17 so I'm not sure what little ones will do to it, but maybe YEARS from now I'll find out

Hello I am thinking about purchasing the Thurston chairs for my dining room table. I can't seem to find the width of the FRONT of the chair. I know at the widest where the wings are it's around 33 inches, but I'm trying to see if it will fit in between the legs of my dining room table at the head. Is there any chance you could measure the front width for me??

Hello Xann77. Here you go... the top/wings are 33.5", the chair front is 30.5" and the widest distance on the curved leg is 27.75. I hope this helps.

Love your style and as a great designer (Candice Olson) says - it's about "knowing all the rules, and knowing when to break them". Great designs are had when design is free to use what u love and what feels good as well. "Predictable" design is sooooo boring!!! Think about it - who makes these rules??? I like your new rug but the old one didn't bother me , you did a great job !! I love fresh transitional design and you nailed it. Ps to all the grey haters- I don't get it! Grey is a beautiful luxurious and elegant backdrop to tons of color..... It's not meant to be used alone !!

I would love to see the curio painted a dark glossy charcoal- that would be gorgeous!!!

I actually bought a dark charcoal paint but haven't gotten to it yet, maybe it will be my next project :)
