Kitchen Design Help

last modified: 8 years ago

We are getting ready to renovate our kitchen. In the process, we're planning on taking down a non-load bearing wall between our kitchen and our living room. In the place of this wall will be a peninsula with counter height bar on the living room side. We're having a difficult time deciding exactly how to setup the kitchen. Sink in the bar? Range with down draft or ceiling mounted hood in the bar? Refrigerator in the corner against the wall or not? We've been to a few design appointments at Lowe's and Home Depot, but still are not set on the design. Any suggestions and or help would be greatly appreciated. Below are the designs we have so far, along with a layout of the kitchen.

Sink in the peninsula?

OR range in the peninsula? This would require a downdraft or ceiling mounted hood. We're not as much a fan of the downdraft and the ceiling mounted hood would break up the space a bit too much, getting away from what we're striving for by taking down the wall.
