A local metal fabricator on the seedy side of town who does fabrication for the restaurant industry can create the needed liner that protects the wood. You are in rarified territory, even on the seedy side of town. You will need to provide the design, or pay for someone with design experience to create the templates.

I thought that a template and metal work may be required. I live in the Washington, DC area. Thanks so much!

I had heard of a aluminum on plywood that may work....but I have no idea what the person was referring to and if it would work.

The contractor or the cabinetry people may have a resource.
