A bountiful harvest.... good for you. The Meyers can be left on the tree until you want to consume them... at least until March.

Wow Bob! Those trees look great! I planted my baby persimmon in the ground. I hope this incredibly cold weather has not hurt it. I feel bad with that baby tree out there when it’s so cold. I love all those mandarins on your trees. They look great and am sure taste even better!

I have the same problems and joys with my trees that anyone else has with their trees. I had aphids on my grafted fukushu that distorted new growth leaves and nipped the terminal buds. The tree lost all of the leaves on the main trunk. It is doing fine despite the setback. My Valentine pomelo looks great and is setting out new growth. My grafted Meiwa kumquat tree lost the lower 2/3 of it root due to an under ground sink hole. All 5 of my seed grown Meiwas are growing flawlessly but very slow as expected. All my trees are kept separate from each other to help control insects. Often one of my trees gets a bad infestation but no other tree is affect like my grafted Fukushu.

I have all my tools and supplies ready. When I spot insects, I can have the trees sprayed within 30 minutes. My trees are very small with my seed grown Fukushu being the biggest.

I have a few practices that have worked very well. I show a lot of pictures of what I do and the results so other can duplicate what I am doing if they want to.

"Do you still have more questions than answers?" Yes, absolutely. I like how gardening keeps me thinking and asking questions. So many of these questions do not have an answer on Google search. Some questions are just very site-specific. There's no way to find out other than trying it and observing the outcome.

I have a small property, so I'm constantly thinking to "optimize" on the little space I have. For your entertainment, these are some citrus questions I have in mind recently:

(1) I have a Kaffir lime growing extremely well in a full-sun site, and a much smaller Cara Cara in a part-sun site, growing slowly. I'm contemplating swapping their locations. I absolutely love my Kaffir lime tree, I love seeing so much maroon-colored new growth, and I use the leaves in cooking, but I also want Cara Cara oranges too eventually. If it takes more resources to develop fruits than grow leaves, maybe the Cara Cara should get the site with more sun? Surely, the Kaffir lime will continue to grow leaves in a second-best location.

(2) My Key lime, in a full-sun site, is not growing much, although I feed it sufficiently and its leaves are beautifully green. I had expected it to grow like a weed from everything I've read on this forum. Maybe my experiment of pretending Auckland (where I am) to be the Florida Keys is not working. Maybe I simply don't have enough heat for the Key lime, and should replace it with the common Bearss lime that everyone else has.

(3) I wonder when my Moro blood orange is going to flower. I learned on this forum that my Moro is not alone in taking a few years to flower. In full sun, it has grown so much and so beautifully this year. For its beautiful form alone, I'm glad to have this tree. But I also want an answer to the question that led me to buy this tree in the first place: What kind of coloring will I get in a Moro in Auckland?

And yes, this year went by too quickly. I have started to measure the years subconsciously with how much each of my citrus trees have grown. In that sense, it's been a good year. Merry Christmas and many thanks to all the regulars on this forum who has taught me so much!
