Although that bean has been widely traded, I believe there are no commercial sources at present. I was the original source, in 2007. It was a
selection from a trial of PI 507984; GW member DrLoyd (who I had sent
some of the first seed) actually suggested the name.

My present seed stock is from 2015, and I have plenty to share... all I ask is
that you reimburse me for the postage. I think we have traded before
(Bird Egg #3), but don't have your address handy; please send me a PM.

By the way, are you still growing the BE #3?

zeedman, I sent you a PM. Yes, I am still happily growing BE #3. This season it is more than 1/4 of my pole bean planting. It grows well here in Tampa and people who have tried it love the taste. Is there a story that goes with it? It seems there are many varieties of Bird Egg beans. I am currently also growing Lina Sisco's Bird Egg, a bush bean.

BE #3 is one of DW's favorites as well. I grew it again in 2017 chiefly for seed renewal, but still had plenty to eat & freeze. Don't know much about its history; I obtained it from SSE in 2004, but don't know where they got it.

SSE used to list previous history with many of their seeds, but never listed anything about BE #3. I have quite a few varieties obtained from them with little to no history... this might be a good time to ask them for more info.
