I would go with the pomelo. You ca get grapefruit at any store. I rarely see pomelo anywhere.

I had that thought too, though from what I have read Chandler Pomelo may be the least cold hardy of the three. Of course getting reliable cold hardiness information on citrus for fringe areas is difficult as you know.

Its not difficult for me. Nothing citrus grows here in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I think I have Rio Red. How do you tell Rio from Ruby. Not that it matters that much, but would like to know. No tag was ever on the tree.

Ike, I bought recently a pomelo fruit from the store that said Golden Pomelo on it's package. It was very juicy and delicious and looked like this:

It didn't have any bitter aftertaste and I believe it was produce of East Asia. I was very impressed.

If I were you, I would try to get the above mentioned pomelo.

I had my first pomelo a few weeks ago. I prefer them over grapefruit for taste. Pain in the butt to get them peeled but very tasty

I'd say pomelo - I've read that you can leave them on the tree for literally years if that's what it takes for them to ripen, which guarantees you can harvest fruit at peak ripeness.
