I've done several successful air layers before, but am just trying to root cuttings for the first time. You'll probably only get one air layer out of your tree, but could get several cuttings. Neither sound too difficult, but you do hear a lot of how many cuttings fail to root for one reason or another. So it depends on your timeline and how much risk you are willing to undergo?

Personally, I'd do an air layer when it warms up. You'd most likely have to stake your tree to offset the top heavy air layer.

The fig tree is tall enough to take a few cuttings and air layer it us soon us you can.

Also I would notch two buts under the air layer .

I think i am going to do one airlayer and then graft a few on my Hardy Chicago figs. I have an abundance of these to graft on.
