Long ago I had an old grapefruit tree and an old lemon tree and occasionally in the spring a seed or two would germinate inside the old fruit on the tree. I you are inclined to tinker put some seed inside a fruit and set it aside. Unlikely, but who knows.

Sorry for the double entries. I've seen seed start developing in fruit before, but don't know if it would work with dry seed. Then again who knows?

Update. I soaked the seed overnight. Peeled the outer seed coat off, planted them in a seed blend soil on the 19th, on the 23rd , they were beginning to sprout. Yeah! Three our of six ain't bad. LOL.

Sunshine, I doubt that the reason the 7 did not make it was because they came from dry seed. I may be wrong, but I see no connection.

Vladimir, it was my first time experiment to plant dry citrus seeds, they got the same type of care I give my other plants, I think the energy that a seed stores, it diminishes over time.

Sunshine, I just noticed that they were 1 year old seeds so the seedlings died not because the seeds were dry but because they were old and, as you say, the energy diminished over time, i.e., the starch reserves were depleted.
