Slightly soft or squishy Plumeria stem

Hello,

I've posted about my Plumeria about a month ago Here.

It seems it's doing fine till now, I water it only when it needs, I dig down about an inch with my finger to test the soil moisture, and water according to that with about half a cup, also I covered the soil surface and the pot with a cloth. Now about a week ago I've noticed that it's slightly soft or squishy at and around the sunburn area, or in the middle of the stem, the rest of the stem (bottom and top) and the little branches are still
solid. No black spots at all, and the whole stem it still green.
What could be the reason? should I water it more? or less?

Thank!!
